The Leather Journal Workshop
Come for the craft.
Learn the craft of traditional leatherworking as you create a personalized leather journal cover from start to finish. This immersive, hands-on workshop takes you beyond assembly and introduces the fundamental techniques used to construct beautiful, functional leather goods.
With just four participants per session, you'll receive personalized instruction and the opportunity to work through each step yourself. From preparing the leather and punching your own stitching holes to hand stitching, setting rivets, and completing your journal, every detail is part of the learning experience.
Learn the Craft. Make It from Scratch.
Working with premium leather and professional leatherworking tools, you'll learn how to measure, mark, and prepare the components of your journal cover. Under the guidance of our instructor, you'll create your own stitching holes, learning proper spacing, alignment, and preparation for hand sewing.
You'll practice traditional leather hand-stitching techniques, learning how to work with needles and thread to create strong, consistent stitches. You'll also learn how to prepare and set rivets, understand their role in leather construction, and assemble the individual components into a finished journal cover.
Once construction is complete, you'll have the opportunity to personalize the front of your journal with custom engraving. Your finished leather cover will be paired with an included Leuchtturm1917 hardcover notebook, creating a functional piece you can continue to use and refill for years to come.
